Get in touchSomeone reads every enquiry within a day
The Academy office is small and answers its own post. If your question is about a specific department, writing to that department directly will usually get you a faster and better answer than going through the general address.

Department offices
Each department keeps its own enquiry address, read by the department administrator and forwarded to the head where a decision is needed.

Coming to see the building
The most useful visit is an open laboratory evening, held on the first Thursday of every month from 17:30 to 20:00. These are not presentations. A demonstration titration runs continuously in the analytical suite, the instrumentation room is open with staff at each bench, and department heads are available to talk without an appointment. No booking is required and there is no charge.
If that date does not work, the Academy office arranges individual tours on weekday afternoons during term. Tours last about forty minutes and are led by a current student rather than by staff, which tends to produce more honest answers.
Getting here
- The Vogel Building is a ten-minute walk from Northgate station, signposted from the eastern exit.
- Bus routes serving the science quarter stop directly outside on Fairholme Way.
- Limited visitor parking is available behind the building; spaces must be requested in advance.
- Step-free access is available at the Fairholme Way entrance, with lift access to every teaching floor.
Accessibility
Every teaching laboratory has at least one height-adjustable bench. Students with specific requirements are encouraged to contact the Academy office before enrolling so that adjustments are in place from the first practical rather than arranged retrospectively.
Ask before you rule yourself out
Most people who assume they do not meet the standard have not read it. If cost or qualifications are the obstacle, say so in your enquiry and we will tell you plainly whether there is a route.
